01 Feb 09 Home Based Business Failures… Just Let It Go!

It can be really hard to let go of past home business failures. Especially when you’ve lost a lot of money. However, if you ever want to have success working from home again you’re going to have to learn to let it go!

So how do you let past failures and start brand new in your home based business?

The first thing you have to do is forgive yourself. Sometimes you may not even know that you’re angry or disappointed with yourself until you really start to think about it. You have to acknowledge that yes, you may have failed but isn’t it better to try something great and fail than to never have tried at all?

We can be our own worst critics. In order for you to truly move on and find success you can’t keep beating yourself up for the past.

Step two? Forgive other people who may have contributed to your failure. Maybe the person you were in business with led you astray or promised you things that weren’t going to happen. Perhaps your husband or wife didn’t believe in you and that hurt your success. Whoever it is you have to forgive those people too. If you are holding onto any type of anger or resentment you are lowering your chance for success big time! So find out anyone that you may be angry at or anyone who you may blame for your failure and forgive them.

Another thing you have to do to move on from past failures is you have to stop looking back all the time! I know it can be easy to compare everything you do now with the past but don’t. When you start over you have to be able to start fresh!

Finally, in order to start over and let go of your past failures you have to encourage yourself along the way. If your goal is to make $3000 a month you’ll want to celebrate every little victory along the way. In many ways making your first $300 dollars is as good as reaching your full goal… it means you’re on the right track and you’re on your way to victory not failure! By keeping yourself encouraged through the entire process you will keep yourself focused on the positive and what you ARE accomplishing now not the past.

Let go of the past and get ready for a brighter more successful future with your home based business!

30 Jan 09 Internet Marketing Tip: You Don’t Have To Be A “Personality” To Do Web Videos

I recently went on an adventure in Internet marketing my home business: I made a video, of me, talking about my home based business.

It was exciting, embarrassing, and frustrating!

I have a mentor in Internet Marketing that came from a radio background. He has a great “set of pipes”, as they would say in the industry, and comes across very natural, cool, and in control of all of the videos he does.

In fact, one could say that he has the gift of doing great Internet marketing videos.

As I am playing back what I did, I laughed at myself. Being from Arkansas, my southern accent is very strong. In fact, I sounded, in my opinion, like I had just stepped out of the woods. It is amazing that, even with a college degree, I could sound so bad! My grammar was not poor, but the accent was definitely on my mind!

At first I felt like I would never be able to do an Internet marketing video that would draw attention; that people would be attracted to, or would help my business in any way. After all, my mentor had a great voice and great presence and he was having success at it. He was everything with videos that I am not.

Then the “ah-ha!” moment hit me: You do not have to be a radio personality to make a quality video! All you have to have is a little enthusiasm and a good message.

I published this first Internet marketing video not knowing what I would get out of it. I did what every good Internet Marketer would do with the video, distributed it to the sites I thought it needed to be on, and sat back wondering what I would do my next Internet marketing video on.

I do know one thing, though: My next Internet marketing video will be better than the first, and the video after that will be better than the previous two. Internet Marketing is about growth, about pushing yourself to be creative, and expanding into different areas that will get your message out to the people looking for your business, your product, or your service. Sometimes this includes breaking out of your comfort zone, but that is okay!

While I will never have the vocal qualities of my mentor, I do share enough in common with him to make great Internet Marketing videos. And although I sound like an educated backwoods hick, I will continue to work on my video recording abilities to be an effective Internet Marketer.

28 Jan 09 Substantial Income Opportunities During The Current Economic Recession

Contrary to the doom and gloom you hear on the news and read on the Internet, plenty of substantial income opportunities exist on the Internet and beyond. The hard part is getting people to realize their potential and help them find their way during the current economic recession.

However, the largest substantial income opportunity in the current economic climate is starting a home based business.

Home based businesses provide many opportunities for normal individuals. Most home businesses can be started while holding a current job, be it full-time or part-time.

A home business does not require a full 40 hour work week like most of “Corporate America” requires. In fact, most home business can be run effectively on 20 hours or less each week. With the power of the Internet, a home based business can be run around the clock with very little intervention.

Most home based businesses can generate substantial incomes with very little out of pocket expense. There are many tools and methods of communicating online and offline that provide advertising mediums for business owners. Most of the tools that can be utilized online are low-cost or no cost. A home business owner can therefore create more income with less expense.

A home business, particularly a network marketing home based business, can allow the business owner to have more freedom in their time as well as their income.

On top of being able to operate the business at a low cost, the business also affords the business owner to spend more time with their family (hence the “home” in home based business) as well as having the flexibility to take their work with them on a vacation, if the choose to take it with them.

Finally, a home based business allows an individual to make a substantial income during tough times. People are always looking for deals, for ways to make money, or for ways to get the same products at a lower price. Being connected in the right home based businesses can bring these types of opportunities and clients to the business owner.

Having a home based business during the current economic recession can be a great idea to provide more freedom at a low cost and build a substantial income for you and your family.

27 Jan 09 Home Based Business: Safer Bet Than A College Degree?

Have you ever heard this before?

“Well I’d like to start a home based business but they are just too risky.”

I know I’ve heard it probably a thousand times or more. The truth is however that investing in a home based business can actually be a safer bet than a college degree. Now before you roll your eyes and shut me out just listen to these three reasons and by the end I know you’ll see my point.

The first reason is time. Did you know that in the time it takes you to earn a traditional 4 year degree you could be set for life with a home based business?

Most home based businesses take about 2 - 4 years to see success just like a degree. So what’s the difference? Well once you get that degree that is suppose to set you up for life you still have to go to work every day. The hard part is really just beginning! Invest a few years into a home based business and you could be in a position to never have to work another day in your life!

The second reason is money. A traditional home based business will cost between $100 - $500 up front some more and some less. Depending on the college you choose a traditional 4 year degree will cost you tens of thousands of dollars. Most college students will have to take out student loans to cover the cost of everything and that means they’ll be paying for school for years and years to come.

It always makes me laugh when people say that a couple hundred dollars is too risky. I’d risk a few hundred any day rather than several thousand… wouldn’t you?

The final reason college is more of a risk than a home based business is that after all that school and training there is still no guarantee that you’ll even have a job at the end of it all!

Almost everyone knows someone or several someone’s who have a degree and aren’t even doing anything with it. Either because they can’t find a job or they decided later on that they don’t want to do what they went to school for. When that happens you’ve wasted tens of thousands of dollars and several years of your life to pretty much end up with nothing.

When you own your own home based business you can never be fired, and even if you decide you don’t want to work for that company anymore you’re only out a few hundred dollars! Are you starting to see my point?

So the next time you think to yourself about how risky a home based business is think again. Sure there is a little risk involved but it’s a small risk for huge rewards!

26 Jan 09 Substantial Income Opportunity Question: Answering Calls Live vs. Sending Them To Voicemai

There are a lot of different theories as to what to do with your prospects when they call you. Many people believe it’s best to answer your calls live and let them talk to a real person and many others believe sending them to an automated voicemail is best. It’s hard to know which is really better. In this article I will be going over the differences as well as the pro’s and con’s of each method so that you can discover what is best for you!

Let’s start with answering your calls live:

There are a lot of pro’s to picking up the phone and answering your calls live. For one it’s just more personal. Fewer and fewer businesses are answering their calls live these days and it’s something that people like it makes them feel like they are important and it just makes them feel good. Another pro to answering your calls live is that you can answer their questions right away. Sometimes just answering one or two questions can help them decide if they’re in or out and taking the calls live allows you to get the answers right away. The final pro to answering your calls live is that it gives you the upper hand in the conversation.

If you let them leave a voicemail you’ll have to call them back and whoever is answering the phone is automatically in a better position. By answering your calls live you will probably talk to nicer people because after all.. They called you!

Now the con’s of answering your calls live:

Often when you are new to the business you might be a little nervous talking to someone about it. That is completely normal. You never get a second chance to make a first impression and many times if you answer the call live and don’t know what to say you may not represent your company in the best way. Another con is that if you answer it live you might not be able to fully focus even if you know what to say. You may be driving or doing something with your kids or cooking or whatever and so you might not give the best impression because of that. Calling them back later allows you to fit it into your schedule and get in the right frame of mind before calling someone you’d like to be in your business.

Here are the pro’s for sending your calls to voicemail:

When you send them to voicemail you can give them a little bit of information without you actually having to do it live. This also allows you to call your prospects back at a time that is convenient for you. Also when you call them back you can be more prepared with a script or whatever you need to feel comfortable right in front of you.

The con’s of sending them to voicemail:

People might be put off that you are sending them to a machine instead of speaking to them live. Another reason is that they may be calling multiple people and if you don’t answer but someone else does they might end up signing up with the other person.

The choice of what to do with your prospects is really up to you. I hope you found this article helpful and that you make the best choice for your business. If you still don’t know what is best try out both methods for a short period of time and see what gets you the best results. Good luck to you and your business!

25 Jan 09 Will A Home Based Business Ever Truly Be Your Career?

When people look to build a home based business they see different things. For some people it’s a way to make a few extra dollars to help with the bills or go shopping, for some people it’s a way to make money from home while their spouse brings home the big paycheck from work and finally for others it’s a life changing thing that allows you to make the kind of money you’ve always dreamed of from home. So can a home based business really ever be your full time career?

The answer is yes, however the only way you’re truly going to make that life changing kind of money is if you stop seeing it as a hobby and you start building an empire!

When you join a home based business you have something very special in your hands. You have a fully functional business that you can make whatever you want. The choice really is yours. Do you want a $12,000 a year business or do you want a $100,000 a year business?

If you want to make 6 figures you’re in the right industry. There is no other type of business out there that allows average people to make such huge incomes.

So how do you turn your business from a part time hobby to a full time money making machine? Well for starters you’re going to have to change the way you look at your business. If when you look at your business you see a small time little thing that is what you’re going to get. When you talk to people, when you present the business in any way you have to present it like the CEO of a fortune 500 company would present it.

Treat your business with the respect it deserves and you’ll be on the right track to making your home based business a full time career.

The next step is setting goals. If you’re not setting goals for your business you aren’t treating it like a business. All big companies have a plan for where they will be going at all times. Sit down at your computer or with a piece of paper and chart out your goals and what it is going to take to get there. Also don’t leave out dates. Sure you want to make $100,000 but when? If you don’t write out your goals and when exactly you’re going to accomplish then you are doing your business a disservice.

Your home based business can be as big or as small as you make it. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to get the most out of your home based business. Don’t just make it a hobby make it your career for life!

23 Jan 09 The More You Fail In A Home Based Business The More You’ll Make!

A lot of people believe that success is the absence of failure. That’s not true. In fact, if you really want to succeed in a home based business, I’m going to tell you to embrace failure!

I know it sounds crazy but it’s true, the more you fail the closer you are to success. Network marketing is nothing but a big giant numbers game and you’re going to have to talk to a lot of people to find the 3 or 4 that will change your business and your life forever.

So many people make the mistake of getting involved in a business and talking to their friends and family and getting incredibly discouraged when they say they’re not interested. Look, not everyone is going to want what you have…. Period. Instead of getting upset when people we know object to our business we should get excited because that means we are a few people closer to finding the ones who are going to be interested.

Look at it this way, you could make the best cheeseburger in the world… the entire world! And you could walk around the street trying to give it to people. Would everyone want one? Absolutely not!

Some people don’t eat meat…

Some people don’t like cheese…

Some people just wouldn’t believe it was really the greatest cheeseburger in the world…

Some people would think if you were giving it away it couldn’t possibly be any good…

There are about a million reasons why some people would choose not to eat that cheeseburger and not one of those reasons has anything to do with the cheeseburger. Get it?

However, the more people you talked to about your cheeseburger (or business) the more people you’d find who were interested. Yeah, sure you’re going to have to deal with people who don’t want it but that’s fine because that just means there will be more for the people that do!

Are you starting to get my point yet? You have to fail a lot before you can win big!

We often get the idea in our heads that if our business is really so great everyone would want to be a part of it and if even one or two people say no then it must not be that great after all. Obviously that’s just not true. Learn to embrace (and dare I say even enjoy) the failures because for every 20 people who say no chances are 1 or 2 are going to say yes and that is a victory for you and your business!

So don’t get discouraged by a few “no’s” it just means you’re that much closer to a great big yes!

22 Jan 09 Legitimate Home Businesses: Fact Or Myth?

Watch television late at night and you’re bound to see an infomercial about someone making money from home. Hey, they’ll parade many people in front of the camera to say “I made money” in hopes of you listening and buying in to their message.

But do legitimate home based businesses really exist, or are they myths? Can people really make money from home, either through networking or through the Internet?

The answer is a resounding absolutely! Legitimate home based businesses exist and can turn anyone with drive, ambition, and desire into a successful business owner.

The Internet can be a great place to start your search for a legitimate home based business, but a word of caution: What is said on the Internet is not always true. I know, hard to believe, but people have malicious intent on both sides.

There are many “companies” that claim to be legitimate but are really scams. These typically involve either no products or what I consider a “light weight” product (i.e. e-books, or electronic books, audios, etc). These gigs are solely in the game of money exchanging hands, usually from your hand to their pocketbooks. They will make claims of big income, but they are not true.

On the other side, there are many legitimate home businesses that people believe are scams and profess it all on the Internet. In most instances, these people did not work the business and lost money…therefore, they call it a “scam.”

Truth is, a business takes work, dedication, and consistency to be successful. Most of the people online professing legitimate companies as scams simply did not work and expected large returns. Do not trust these people as they are not giving unbiased advice.

In finding a home business you really need to find something that is a good fit for you. Along with that, there is an importance in finding a business that has a plan for you to recoup most, if not all, of your money in the first month or two.

Finally, a legitimate business opportunity will have a marketing plan for you to be successful. They will lay out step by step, whether it be live or online, the actions you must take in order to see your business succeed. If the company has a “Go get ‘em, tiger!” mentality, they may not be legitimate. Find a company that will teach you how to run the business. After all, would you open a McDonald’s without knowing how to make a Big Mac?

So there it is: Legitimate home based businesses do exist. Finding one that is right for you is simple with a bit of research and finding the right fit for you.
